Action for Carers Newsletter October 2026

This Autumn, we’re running a campaign to help more of Surrey’s working family carers access our support. Balancing paid work with a caring role can bring significant pressure: new Carers UK report estimates that 1,500 people a day have left employment to care. Please help us reach working carers by sharing our information and events with the people you support.

We're also running an event for those people caring for someone with poor mental health, in Epsom (8th October), where carers will be able to hear from SABP's new NHS Neighbourhood Hubs, as well as learn more about support within the NHS as a mental health carer. There will also be Surrey Welfare Rights and many mental health organisations attending to chat with for support. Please let carers know.

Thanks again for your support.

Can you help us reach Surrey's working Carers?

We’re running a campaign this October-November to try and reach more of working carers, to let them know of our support. Working carers feel additional pressures as they struggle to juggle paid work with their caring role.

We’re also holding a series of special online events for working carers, including:

NOVEMBER

  • Employment rights for working carers, Saturday 21st November 10-11am
  • Benefits for working carers Tuesday 17th November, 6-7pm
  • Employment rights for working carers Tuesday 17th November 7.15-8.15pm
You will be able to book on these in a few weeks' time.

⭐ Please share... in a newsletter, mention an event during an appointment or pass the information to colleagues, you could help someone find the support they need. Thank you..
